1. Support of Deprived Children

The Chepang community, a marginalized ethnic group in Nepal, primarily resides in the middle hills of the country’s western region, including districts such as Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, Makawanpur, and others. Their livelihoods depend on jungle products, agriculture, and hunting. Unfortunately, they face significant challenges, particularly in the education sector, where access and quality are limited. Recognizing the need for intervention, our project has been initiated with the aim of improving the quality of education, sanitation, and healthcare for the Chepang community, while also working towards uplifting their overall living conditions. We provide continuous guidance through education, training, and engaging them in various extra-curricular activities.

One specific location where our efforts have been focused is in the Dhading District, specifically in the Baireni Rorang Rural Municipality – 8, Dhusa, Dungbang village. Here, the Jal Devi Primary School caters to more than 70 Chepang students. In our endeavor to support them, we have been providing essential provisions such as food, clothing, stationary items, uniforms, bags, solar lights, and even furnishing the school with television, furniture, carpets, and other necessary supplies. These efforts have been made possible through the Nipesh DHAKA Foundation, which has been actively involved in supporting this school and 166 Chepang households since 2016.

Furthermore, we have organized various charity shows, environmental awareness programs, and Melancholy Documentary Shows in the Nepalese community and academic institutions within Nepal. These events have served as platforms to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the Chepang community and to garner support for our cause. Additionally, we have extended our reach to international audiences by showcasing our programs in countries such as Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, France, and others, to generate interest and gain fund support for the Chepang community.

Looking ahead, our future plans include implementing modern agricultural systems, technical support, and other initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of Chepang children and the Chepang people as a whole. By focusing on sustainable development strategies and empowering the community, we aspire to bring about positive and long-lasting changes in their lives.

2. Disasters Victims support

It’s no more a secret that global warming is a real threat and that it has already started to affect us in more ways than one. With an aim to generate awareness among the public about the impacts of climate change.

We are deeply committed to addressing the natural disasters that occur in Nepal. The country’s geographical variation leads to the destruction of hundreds of homes and affects thousands of people every year. As an organization, we have actively participated in providing assistance during such crises. In August 2017, when floods struck the Eastern Terai region of Nepal, we extended our support to the flood victims in Gobindapur village, located in the Morang District. Our aid included provisions such as food, clothing, medicine, tents, and other essential supplies to meet their immediate needs.

Additionally, we have responded to similar situations in the past. In 2015 and 2020, during the devastating floods in Sindupalchowk, we provided assistance by supplying food, clothing, and other necessary items like building materials and kitchen accessories. In all our efforts, we maintain a special focus on children and farmers, aiming to support and motivate them during these difficult times.

Moreover, during the massive earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015, we actively engaged in rescue operations and provided relief to the affected communities. Our volunteers worked tirelessly to assist hospitals, provide blood supplies, distribute food, offer temporary shelter through tents, and support various initiatives. In Gorkha district, specifically, we extended our help to Chaturmala Higher Secondary School, benefiting over 1000 students. We provided them with uniforms, clothing, stationery, bags, and other essential items to ensure they could continue their education amidst the chaos.

To carry out these relief efforts, we initiated fundraising campaigns through various social media platforms. We also relied on the support of SEEM Nepal members, staff, and volunteers who contributed their time, effort, and resources. They collected clothing, food, and monetary donations through personal appeals to their relatives, as well as through social media channels.

Our sincere dedication to helping the victims of natural disasters in Nepal remains unwavering. We strive to make a positive impact by providing timely assistance, addressing immediate needs, and supporting the most vulnerable communities, particularly children and farmers. Through collaborative efforts, both internally and with the support of compassionate individuals and organizations, we endeavor to alleviate the suffering caused by these unfortunate events and contribute to the long-term recovery and resilience of the affected regions.
